Announcing: ALIEN INVASION science fiction anthology ebook!

The world of the protagonist has just been invaded by hordes of nasty aliens. The large urban area the protagonist lives in is under attack. The city under attack and the protagonist must decide what to do: escape, fight, take a few out with him/her/they/it before death, none of the above.

The situation should be desperate. It is doubtful whether the character can make it out alive or not, but s/he is going to give it one he’ll of a try anyway (and take out as many aliens along the way to boot). Your character can have any kind of job you like and be in any city, from fake to real, but the time must be now (or at least within the last 75 years) and no big weapons (mecha/powersuits, but if you can come up with something funky using the Segway or a lawn mower or a bus covered in chainsaws, then i’m all for it - make it original and fun).

Characters do not have to be completely human (this is where bizarro authors could have some fun) or human at all (pet snapping turtle vs aliens?). Set on alternate earth or in the past or (within last 75 years best). Characters are not required to be alive at the end. Have fun with the story.

The situation should be grim and dark in some ways as there will be death and destruction every direction the character looks, but how and if the character survives is up to you.

The maximum length of the story is 6000 words (slightly longer is welcome, but I am only paying for the first 6000), so please keep it fast-paced, chalked with over-the-top thrills and spills, and John Woo/grindhouse/ROBOCOP style violence.

Welcomed (but not required): humor, mixed-genre, alternative lifestyle characters, alternate universes, parallel dimensions, a bit well-timed or placed sexiness, .

Unwelcome: Shared universe work, reprints, unoriginal work, fan fiction, adult situations or heavy language use. (Original language substitutes are welcome though.)

IMPORTANT: As I am going to try to raise as much of the necessary funds over at IndieGOGO before the deadline (see below), I would like an idea of how many authors are interested in submitting. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Your document should be formatted thus:
1) in doc or docx format - if it is necessary you use a format other than doc(x), please let me know in advance, we can work it out
2) in Times New Roman font
3) single-spaced
4) single space after a period and a new sentence
5) first three lines should contain the title, author name as you wish to see it in-print, and your email address
6) the file name of the document itself should read: the title, author name (as you wish to see it in-print)
7) no Tab or indenting new paragraphs
8) without headers, footers or page-numbers
9) any break in the text representing change in time/point of view/chapter or similar should be represented as return, +++, return.
For example:

That was the last time John saw Kathy alive.

At the ranch, the clown show was in full swing, so Bob grabbed a sandwich.
